Description

Lego Batman Beyond Gotham is a fast-paced crafting and adventure game fighting your way through the mean streets of Gotham one villain at a time.

Lego Batman Beyond Gotham is set within the Batman universe. This means you'll find yourself fighting bad guys, running across the Gotham skyline, and uncovering the deep dark secrets that city is hiding. On one mission you could find yourself fighting the Joker, on another, you could be facing off against the Riddler in a battle of wits and trickery. Every level is unique and every mission is challenging. Whether you are already a fan of Batman or not, this game could be right for you.

Naturally, if you are already a Batman super fan this game has probably been on your radar for a while. It embodies all the best qualities of previous Lego Batman games and more. Even if you aren't already a fan, how could you pass up a game that is so expertly combining a mixture of hilarious cut scenes with tense action and head-to-head combat? It creates such a rich and engaging play environment that keeps you coming back to play time and time again.

This is a Lego game so you can safely assume you will be doing a few things, and doing them often. Building Lego structures, destroying everything in your path, solving little puzzles, and doing your best to not miss a single stud as you plow your way through wave after wave of villains on your quest to reach that 100% completion mark. One of the most enjoyable features is being able to take characters you unlock through the game and drop them into completely different levels that they have no business being involved in. Do you want to fight the Joker, while also playing as the Joker? Because you can!

As you progress through the game you will begin to find that certain parts of the levels remain just out of reach or seem to demand some kind of ability that you don't yet possess. This is why completing the game and then going back through to play again can yield some pretty cool rewards. It's almost as if you are able to play a completely new game.

Replayability is a huge part of the Lego game franchise. Being able to explore the world full time and time again as different characters with different bonuses is a vital component of that replayability factor. Free play is probably the most enjoyable part of any Lego game, it gives you the chance to fully explore a previous level in full while enjoying the prior knowledge of how to complete it. On your quest to achieve 100% completion within each level you may find it takes more than just one or two playthroughs to uncover everything each mission is hiding.

Additionally, free play gives you the opportunity to test out cool bonuses that you have unlocked or purchased with your in-game currency, studs. For example, do you want to increase the speed of Batman's boomerang? Do you want to play as the Joker wearing a tropical print Hawaiian shirt? If you don't find that that is enticing enough on its own, maybe Lego Batman isn't for you?

How to play

Playing Lego Batman is easy to pick up and hard to put down. The controls feel natural and will more than likely take very little getting used to. Even if this is your first Lego game you will find navigating the game intuitive and unproblematic. If you are used to playing on a console or PC then moving to a mobile device may require a small adjustment period. But, the game has been cleverly redesigned to make mobile touch easy and accurate.

Each mission is pretty straightforward. You have a general idea of what you are supposed to be doing. Even if the cut scenes don't use dialogue and the characters are acting goofy. Lego Batman is rather linear meaning you should be able to find your way through each level by identifying key markers. An example of these markers would be doors made exclusively out of Lego. If you see an item that's made out of Lego that often indicates that it can be destroyed, built upon, or move by your player character.

As you progress through the game you will begin to unlock the opportunity to buy new characters and new abilities. You are going to need money to do this. In almost all Lego games the in-game currency is called studs. This is certainly the case for Lego Batman Beyond Gotham, you will need these studs to unlock all the cool and interesting things that are on offer for you to buy. The trouble comes when you are trying to collect enough to buy everything you want! Some items can be pretty darn expensive which may require you to grind out a few levels over and over again before you have a hope of being able to afford them.

Studs can be found inside plenty of things like flower pots, chairs, cars, and hidden inside bad guys. As mentioned above, a good way of finding studs is by focussing on items that are made entirely of Lego. Normally, they take a few punches before you manage to completely wear them down and break them open like a piñata. If it takes a few moments of constant abuse before they finally relent, just know you can't give up. You're almost there! A good way of gauging how well you are doing on each level is how full your golden stud bar is. When it's completely full, you will even earn an extra award that can be used to unlock new, rare, areas or cool new vehicles.

Whether or not this is your first time playing a Lego game or not, Lego Batman Beyond Gotham is full of new experiences and cool new adventures. Feel free to share your favorite playable character in the Lego Batman series in the comments below. Or, share a tip or trick that you found helped you reach the lofty goal of 100% completion!
