The game begins with the London Table, and as the player's level rises, other tables become available. With experience, the higher tables give higher and better payouts. However, most players overlook the most important aspect of the game: the rule change. The regulations get more stringent, such as selecting a pocket to pot each ball.

When you first start the game, you'll notice a cue ball and 15 other numbered balls. The balls are separated into two categories: spots or solids (balls 1–7) and stripes (balls 9–15). The objective is to pocket all of the stripes or solids before finally pocketing the 8 ball. As simple as that sounds, there are a few guidelines to remember, and the time limit imposed on each shot, as indicated by the glow around your portrait, is just one of them.

There are cues with various features and powers; invest in gaining the signals that will help you win more often. It is not enough to simply have a better cue; one must also practice with the cue. For example, suppose you've been playing with a beginner cue for 20 matches, and then you're handed a legendary cue to use. As with the basic level cue, the first shot would never be enough.

Regardless of whether or not you pocket any balls, you can choose between stripes and solids after the break shot. Running out of time before making a shot results in a pass, and as a result, your open will be holding the ball. It means they'll be able to replace it during their turn easily.

In addition to running out of time, failing to strike any of your balls with your shot is a foul, just as failing to hit any of your opponent's balls first is.

Keep in mind that the cue ball, or any of the balls, should hit any portion of the rail during each shot. Each shot you make should therefore hit one of your balls before hitting any of the opponent's balls and touch any rail or side of the pool table simultaneously. 

You must call your shots concerning the pocket you are targeting will go down in, as an additional regulation applicable to tables with bigger stakes. A scratch, or pocketing the cue ball, also finishes your turn with a ball in your opponent's hand.

The worst thing you can do is pocket the 8 balls before clearing your balls. When trying to sink the 8 ball, getting a scratch or calling the wrong pocket is also a big no-no. These occurrences will cause you to lose the game immediately.

But you must also avoid: 

With the ball in hand, if you run out of time, you'll have to hand over the pass to your opponent. The opponent can now take his shot with ease.

It's time to hit the opponent's ball.

Your cue ball isn't even striking your ball.

The cue ball or the object ball is not hitting the table's edge rail.

You are potting your ball in any pocket other than the selected pocket on a higher game table/level.
